In addition to my production work, I am currently a doctoral student in the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida at Tampa.
My primary academic interest is the rhetoric of values and belief, particularly in television and film. I am especially interested in low-budget documentary production as an intentional, self-conscious use of electronic media to influence audiences at the level of core values and world-view.
I am also interested in the philosophy of communication, the impact of digital media forms on communication, media convergence, and good old-fashioned oral communication.
I am teaching Public Speaking at USF, and Visual Literacy at the University of Tampa. I have also taught Electronic Field Production at USF, and a course on Religious Images in Film at Webster University in St. Louis.
