In addition to my production work, I am currently a doctoral candidate at the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida at Tampa.
My primary academic interests are media studies and rhetoric. I am especially interested in documentary production as an intentional, self-conscious use of electronic media to influence audiences at the level of core values and world-view.
I am also interested in the philosophy of communication, the impact of digital media forms on communication, media convergence, and good old-fashioned oral communication.
Courses I teach at USF include Electronic Field Production, Public Speaking, and Gender, Communication and Identity. I teach Visual Literacy at the University of Tampa, and have taught Religious Images in Film at Webster University in St. Louis.
